Celebrate in Petaluma!

Visit the River Front Town of Petaluma, in the heart of North Coast Wine Country, only 32 miles north of San Francisco. “Experience the Charm” as this city recalls the past, revels in the present and imagines the future during the yearlong 150th anniversary celebration in 2008.

of the year-long 150th Celebration

In addition to the highlights below, most major events during 2008 will also feature Petaluma’s 150th Birthday Theme.

Signature Event - Mayor’s Gala on March 29, 2008 at the Petaluma Veteran’s Memorial Building will be an evening of great local food and entertainment, with recognition throughout the evening of community leaders and supporters whose contributions and involvement will greatly add to the success of the 150th Celebration.

The July 4th Sesqui’Fest Community Event - A Community-wide festival, located at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds will feature food and beverage booths, music, activities for all ages, hands on art projects, a specially commissioned theater piece by Cinnabar Theatre, headline entertainment, and will finish with a Fireworks display.

Official Commemorative Book – A 224 page colorful hardbound coffee table book, with colorful dust jacket, featuring historic and recent photos along with prose by some of Petaluma’s favorite local writers, available for sale at the Petaluma Visitor Center and various other Petaluma merchants. Whatever lies in Petaluma’s future, the one constant will likely be the “hometown atmosphere” that embraces the city now.

In addition to the many attractions and events, the preserved historic districts and neighborhoods, the parks that include ancient wetlands and green hills for hiking, the restaurants for every taste and pocketbook, the world-famous professional community theater–the real appeal of Petaluma is in the community spirit that respects the past, the present and the future.
