Like Father, Like Son

Gold Bloom Artists

The newest protégé at Gold Bloom is the son of Timothy and Gunes Gordy--four years old and already following in his Father’s footsteps. Truman loves to work alongside his father, designing special creations all of his own.

Timothy mentioned that although he had worked with fine metals and precious stones from an early age, he had never thought of jewelry design as a career. Then, he recalls, “When I was 18, I looked around at what I was doing and realized how much I enjoyed drawing designs, and bringing those designs into three-dimensional life as objects of art meant to be worn. I love to work in platinum. It is the most noble of all the metals. A majority of the platinum pieces are wedding and anniversary pieces to commemorate one of life’s milestones. As you work with the client, you become part of that celebration. I also enjoy working with old pieces of jewelry that seem to be beyond repair. I’ll take them apart and start imagining how to make something more representative of the person’s individual lifestyle.”

When you visit Gold Bloom, you will find that you have stepped into a wonderland of precious metals and sparkling gemstones turned, through the artistry and talent of Timothy Gordy into some of the most stunning and exquisite jewelry imaginable.

Timothy and Gunes brought the Gordy style to Healdsburg in 1992, working first out of their home, then moving into a tiny shop on Matheson Street before moving to their Showcase store at 328 Center Street.

Timothy is proud of his staff and enjoys introducing them, emphasizing the word “master” in front of the definition of their individual skills. They all have decades of experience, he says, and they are an integral part of every process in the store.

Ben Cheng is the master model maker; Tuan Lee is the master diamond setter and Michael McConnico is a certified gemologist.

Even though almost all of the jewelry is custom-designed and hand-fabricated, Timothy tells us of his laser welding machine and his CAD-CAM machine, which “works all night while I’m sleeping.”

With the latest technology in computer design and execution, Gold Bloom certainly is the wonderland to explore on your next visit to Wine Country!
