Winesong!

Winesong! continues to be a unique event, truly unlike any other. While the event’s primary goal is to raise much-needed funds for the Mendocino Coast District Hospital, Winesong! provides a terrific showcase for over 100 world class wineries. Wineries from Napa Valley, Mendocino, Sonoma Counties as well as Oregon, Washintgon, Chile, Italy and Australia are well represented. With its wine tasting meandering along the garden pathways and meadows bordering the Pacific coastline, Winesong is the only wine tasting and charity auction by the sea.

The Winesong! charity auction is known as well for its selection of large format art bottles, weekend getaways, special events and exclusive overnight stays at wineries. Rare vertical and horizontal collections of wine are always in demand and command attention at both the live and silent auctions.

While much of the rest of the country swelters in 100+ degree September heat, the coast of California remains cool and refreshing, benefiting the wine, wine makers and wine tasters who attend Winesong!. While the Mendocino Coast weather remains temperate, the bidding action under the big tent is hot and furious! In 2007, when auctioneers DawnMarie Kotsonis and David Reynolds hammered down the final lot, total bids for the day reached $653,000.

The colorful Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens provides the unique backdrop for this premier charity auction event. A benefit for the Mendocino Coast Hospital Foundation, Winesong! plays to a sold-out crowd of 1,200 wine lovers. A tasting in the 57-acre Gardens features new wine releases and old favorites paired with food from over 50 local purveyors, setting the “let’s-have-fun” mood.

Over its twenty-four years, Winesong! has developed a word-of-mouth loyal following. The beauty of the venue and the diversity of the auction lots attract people from many parts of the globe, its 1,200 attendees coming from 28 states to taste great wines and food, and to enjoy a casual, feel-good weekend along the Mendocino Coast. The Winesong! 2007 top five bidders hailed from Los Angeles, Boca Raton, Toronto, Reno, and Calistoga.
